Honed granite requires the right kind of sealer. Unfortunately not all sealers are made equal. The sealers commonly sold at Home Depot and Lowes are pretty weak. With new EPA laws coming online, the sealers are becoming less effective to meet EPA standards.

We use Superior Zero, a low VOC and VOC compliant Sealer. Yes it cost more but it works well. I would recommend 2 to 3 coats depending on the stone. The great thing about Superior Zero is that it is easy to apply. Some oil based sealers leave a film during the application. Not Superior Zero since it is water based.

We just installed a Stone Impressions Mural called "Fruttiera", which looks like the same one here...we also used the tumbled travertine tile in Ivory Classic on a diagonal. The only difference is that our mural has a travertine molding imperial bar liner rope. Cabinets are cinnamon glaze over swiss coffee (off white), with Tiberius (yellow river style) granite, along with porcelain floors.

I wish I had seen your installation first so I would not have agonized so much before making the decision to go with the Fruttiera mural, but we are so happy with it, and your installation is beautiful as well!
